Xiaomi Mi Band adds ECG, blood pressure and glucose functions to new smartwatches

Huami, which manufactures Xiaomi Mi Band smart bracelets as well as its own wearable devices under the Amazfit and Zepp brands, has confirmed that it is adding new features to its upcoming smartwatches.

This was announced in a fresh interview by Zepp Health COO Mike Yeung, who said the innovations include electrocardiogram, blood pressure, glucose, Spotify integration and various artificial intelligence functions.

Mike Yeung added that the company is already partnering with Alivecor in the US. Alivecor is a renowned manufacturer of ECG sensors. It is the first company to release an FDA-approved ECG sensor for the Apple Watch.

Our greatest achievement is, firstly, the ECG, and secondly, the study of sleep. We are going to continue to improve them further, and then we will monitor blood pressure and blood glucose levels. We’re also pretty optimistic based on current progress with glucose monitoring. It was not easy, but now we are confident that we can do it.
