IFixit specialists have finally gotten to the Apple AirPods Max wireless headphones at the price of 62,990 rubles. A full-fledged “disassembly” will be published one of these days, but for now – the first details and a preliminary result: it is not easy to disassemble the headphones. Some of the components are connected with screws, but in addition to this, a lot of glue is used. During disassembly, the headphones had to be warmed up – about the same as happens with smartphones.

The AirPods Max has 40mm drivers, and there are two Apple H1 SoCs – one on each side. There are also two batteries, but, interestingly, both are housed in one earpiece. This can be clearly seen on an X-ray. Moreover, no cable or connector for connecting the battery to the motherboard is visible. So it’s not a fact that the batteries can be easily replaced.

Other features of AirPods Max are two motherboards of different shapes. That is, they are clearly not interchangeable – you cannot install a board from the right earpiece into the left one and vice versa. Most of the components are from Texas Instruments, NXP Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics and Apple itself.
