The anti-mining GeForce RTX 3060 is finally out. Ethereum mining performance more than halved

Galax was the first company to introduce Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 LHR graphics cards – with limited performance for Ethereum mining. Galax already has such RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 in its assortment, and now the RTX 3060 has also appeared. It was the GeForce RTX 3060 that was supposed to become the first video card in the line with limited performance for cryptocurrency mining, but in fact it debuted later than the others.

Like other anti-mining Galax models, the GeForce RTX 3060 is designated FG. Recall that Nvidia does not give clear instructions on how to designate new anti-mining models on the Ampere GPU – here manufacturers of finished devices are free to decide on their own. In the case of Galax, such video cards received the FG postscript, while MSI’s models will most likely be denoted by the word Plus in the title. At least, this is indicated by documents from the EEC database.

In terms of characteristics and performance, the anti-mining GeForce RTX 3060 is no different from the one that came out earlier. However, its performance during Ethereum mining has been more than halved: it was up to 44 MH / s, but now it is only 20 MH / s. However, the anti-mining GeForce RTX 3060 has yet to go on sale widely, so cryptocurrency miners still have one last chance to get a fully functional version. And after the complete replacement of the old version with the new cryptocurrency miners can switch to AMD 3D cards: the Radeon RX 6700 XT provides performance at the level of the anti-mining GeForce RTX 3080, but at the same time it costs much less.
