Test of “Xbox One console” turned into a PC. What is Chuwi AeroBox capable of with APU A9-9820

The other day we talked about the AMD A9-9820 Motherboard CPU Combo motherboard on Aliexpress with the A9-9820 APU, which, apparently, is technically a copy of the APU installed in the Xbox One.

At the same time, we mentioned that the Chuwi AeroBox mini PC was previously presented on this APU. And now we can read his review to understand what the “console” is capable of when it is “turned” into a PC.

For starters, the A9-9820 contains eight non-multithreading Jaguar processor cores operating at 2.3 GHz, as well as a Radeon RX 350 GPU with 512 stream processors active.

With tests at the source, things didn’t go very well. For example, 3DMark benchmarks simply wouldn’t run and crashed the system. In the Dragon Quest X benchmark, the system scored 6055 and 5324 points in HD and Full HD, respectively. For comparison, the GeForce MX 150, together with the Core i7-8550U, scores about 5600 points in Full HD, that is, the GPU performance is pretty bad. This is confirmed by the test in Final Fantasy XV, where the system scored 2789 points against 2914 points for the GTX 1050 Ti.

As for processor performance, in Cinebench R20, the test A9-9820 scores 107 and 756 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively, while, for example, the far from the freshest Celeron N4100 scores 150 and 421 points, respectively, and the Core i5-8265U – 318 and 1187 points. In PCMark 10, the result is also not happy: 2108 points against 2198 points for the old Core i3-7100U.

The system has also been tested in Fortnite. With an unknown resolution (probably HD) and medium graphics quality settings, the game can formally give out 40 fps or more, but in shootouts everything starts to slow down, that is, it will not work normally.

The Chuwi AeroBox test is a unique opportunity to test what a “console turned into a PC” is capable of. As you can see, not much, and this once again confirms that even modern consoles, which have a lot in common with computers, still significantly differ from them in optimization, which allows you to run modern games on the old hardware.
