Saying goodbye to Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. Smartphone support discontinued

Xiaomi has ended support for the inexpensive Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite smartphone (review). This was reported by the thematic resource AdimorahBlog.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite debuted in July 2018 as part of the Android One program. This means that Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite has become one of the few Xiaomi smartphones that are released without the MIUI branded shell – on a pure version of Android. At the time of the start of sales, the smartphone received Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone is currently running Android 10.

The smartphone received the last update in February. Then the new firmware brought the February 2021 Android security update. Since then, the smartphone has not been updated.

The Android One program policy requires devices released under the program to receive two major Android updates and “at least” three years of security updates. This means that in theory the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite should receive security updates until June 2021. However, it appears that the company ended support a little earlier, although this has not yet been officially announced.
