SanDisk changes name

SanDisk Corporation, acquired by Western Digital Corporation in 2016, announced a shape and name change. Now it will not be a corporation, but a limited liability company, and it will be called Western Digital GK. The changes take effect on January 1, 2021.

In a related press release, Western Digital is offering NAND flash and hard disk products through several brands, including WD and SanDisk, in the consumer and enterprise segments. In addition, the company develops and mass-produces complex solutions for data storage. The SanDisk brand was used for flash-based products, but it was decided to further associate this direction with the Western Digital Group name. SanDisk-branded products are likely to be a thing of the past in the not too distant future.
