The Russian retailer Svyaznoy has shared interesting statistics on the Russian laptop market for 9 months of 2020.

From January to September, notebook sales continued to grow. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 40% in physical terms and 54% in monetary terms to 2.5 million devices and 106.1 billion rubles. The most popular brand among Russians was Asus, which took 24% of the market in pieces, and the average price of a purchased laptop was 42.3 thousand rubles.

In second place is Lenovo with a share of 21%, and in third place is Acer with a share of 19%. In terms of sales in monetary terms, the situation is slightly different: Asus takes the first place with 23%, then Acer with 18% and Lenovo with 17%.

Online sales have become the main trend of the market: Russians bought every second laptop on the Internet. As noted by Mikhail Dogadin, vice president for procurement and development at Svyaznoy, Russians have begun to purchase more efficient laptops. If last year the most popular devices were in the price segment from 15 to 30 thousand rubles, then according to the results of the third quarter, laptops costing from 30 to 50 thousand rubles became the hit of sales, which occupy a share of 37% in pieces.

Dogadin explained:

We associate the shift in demand in favor of expensive devices with a period of self-isolation, when users began to need powerful devices capable of solving a wider range of tasks in the framework of remote work, study and just leisure. ”
