Russia has become one step closer to obtaining its own quantum computer. MIPT created the country’s first five-qubit integrated circuit

The first in Russia quantum integrated circuit based on five qubits was created in the laboratory of artificial quantum systems of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

The integrated circuit was developed by MIPT specialists and manufactured on the technological basis of the Shared Use Center of the Moscow Phystech. The first measurements showed that all elements are functioning as intended. As a result, Russian scientists became one step closer to creating a full-scale quantum computer.

The first qubit was received in Russia in 2015. The current achievement was made possible by a number of factors. This is an improved control of the geometric and electrical parameters of tunnel contacts, debugging of the technology for manufacturing microwave resonators, debugging of the process of manufacturing hinged bridges, and the experience of scientists accumulated over the past years.
