iPhone 12 lost to almost all Android smartphones in terms of speed in modern mobile networks

Analyst firm Opensignal has conducted a study of the average download speed in 5G networks in modern smartphones. The iPhone 12 failed to make it to the list of the top 25 in terms of download speed – it was inferior to many modern Android smartphones.

The best smartphone in terms of average data transfer rate was the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, the result of which was 56 Mbps. Also on the list of the fastest smartphones in the fifth generation networks were the flagships of LG, OnePlus, TCL, Motorola and Google. LG Velvet 5G took 25th place with a score of 37.8 Mbps.

As for Apple smartphones, the best result (36.9 Mbps) was shown by the iPhone 12 Pro. Analysts noted that Apple smartphones in the transition from 4G to 5G offered users a tangible increase in speed (2.3 times faster). However, the average speed of the iPhone on 4G networks was only 18.9 Mbps.

Also worth noting is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S21 is already the third generation of smartphones with 5G networks, while the iPhone 12 is the first Apple smartphone that can work on the new networks.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 has a Snapdragon X60 modem, while the iPhone 12 has a Snapdragon X55 modem. Experts point out that the low speed of the iPhone 12 is also due to the poor location of the antennas in the case.
