Byte-Mix Labs, a small Spanish technology firm, has launched a fundraising campaign for a portable retro gaming device called microByte.

The microByte handheld console will offer you the ability to play most of the retro classics released for consoles such as the NES, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, Game Gear, and Sega Master System, the company says. It is also possible to add support for games with Atari and ScummVM.

The developers claim that this is the perfect open platform for anyone looking to learn about the Arduino ecosystem, MicroPython, or programming for the popular ESP32 module. The apps you create can be downloaded to a MicroSD card and run on your device. And it all fits in a 7.8 x 4 x 1.7 cm case.

The microByte handheld console features a 1.3-inch 240 x 240-pixel IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate. She got a user interface based on the LVGL library. The device has buttons like the old gamepad and will be available in four colors. The battery life is 6 hours.

The developers plan to raise at least $ 3,750, while the price of such a device is $ 45, and deliveries should begin in June this year.
