Huawei has officially announced that its HarmonyOS operating system should “take 16% of the market as soon as possible.” The company’s goal is to achieve this target by the end of this year.

Huawei will host the HarmonyOS Connect Partner Summit in Shanghai on May 18. According to reports, the Chinese manufacturer will officially announce the HarmonyOS Connect brand and green channel strategy. In addition, Huawei will be inviting many partners to the event to share the progress of HarmonyOS development. Shanghai will bring together equipment suppliers related to the HarmonyOS Connect industry chains, chip suppliers and various solutions.

Yang Haisong, vice president of Huawei’s Consumer and Artificial Intelligence Business, said in an interview, “It will take one year to complete the journey others have traveled in five years.” According to him, HarmonyOS will quickly gain a large user base. It is not yet known whether the company has the necessary infrastructure to achieve this goal.

Huawei needs partners to launch its products with the new operating system. Last year, Midea introduced at least 10 products with HarmonyOS. This year, the Midea hob is the first HarmonyOS eco-device to be exhibited at the Huawei mall. At the China Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics Expo in March this year, brands such as Haier, Shuaikang, Supor, Fangtai, Joyoung and other brands also showcased several devices with HarmonyOS. These products will hit the market later this year, officials said.

Huawei believes HarmonyOS will help equipment manufacturers improve user experience and service access efficiency.
