Fujifilm X-T3 camera can focus faster and more accurately

Fujifilm has released a major firmware update for the X-T3 camera, released in the fall of 2018. The update is said to significantly improve the performance of the autofocus system.

In particular, in the description of the firmware version 4.00 it is said that the minimum autofocus time has been reduced by three times – from 0.06 to 0.02 seconds, which brings the X-T3 to one level with the X-T4 model, which at the beginning of this year topped the line of Fujifilm mirrorless cameras …

The algorithm that predicts the movement of objects in the frame has also been improved, which should make tracking objects more reliable. In general, according to the manufacturer, the tracking autofocus performance has become twice as good as in the firmware version 3.30. The same assessment is given for continuous shooting with tracking the eyes in the frame, since the algorithm for recognizing faces and eyes in the frame has undergone a redesign.

After installing the update, autofocus is able to work in illumination up to -7 EV if the camera is equipped with a Fujinon XF50mmF1.0 R WR lens. In addition, the update adds an option to limit the focus range.

You can download the firmware version 4.00 for the Fujifilm X-T3 camera from the manufacturer’s website.

By the way, in April last year, the manufacturer already improved the X-T3’s autofocus system with an update.
