Canon RF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM lens introduced

Canon introduced the RF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM, Canon’s first RF mount lens for macro photography. It is equipped with an image stabilizer, the effectiveness of which the manufacturer estimates at five exposure stops. Moreover, when using the lens together with a camera equipped with its own image stabilization system, the total gain can be up to eight stops.

Automatic focusing is performed by two ultrasonic drives. For faster focusing, there is a switch that limits the range. Manual focusing is of course possible. The control ring is programmable – you can assign adjustment of exposure compensation, shutter speed, aperture or light sensitivity to it.

An interesting feature of the lens is the adjustment of the degree of spherical aberration correction using a special ring. With its help, you can control the “character and appearance” of the blur out of focus.
