Beware of counterfeiting: which companies’ smartphones are most often counterfeited?

Today, the AnTuTu benchmark team released a new report on counterfeit phones identified over the past year. A big problem has become fakes under eminent models with declared 5G support, which in practice they do not have.

For the most part, these smartphones are equipped with MeidiaTek Helio P23, MT6735, MT6737 single-chip systems and other inexpensive SoCs. They will only display the 5G logo on the loading screen, but these models do not have any support for next-generation networks.

From March 2020 to February 2021, the AnTuTu team identified fake devices 572,303 times, which was approximately 4.24% of the total number of checks. The company whose smartphones are most often counterfeited is Samsung (it accounted for 34% of counterfeits). Apple ranks second with a score of 13%.

The third place is taken by Huawei, whose smartphones are counterfeited in 8% of cases recorded by AnTuTu. The fourth place with a score of 7% is taken by Xiaomi. Next up are Honor, Oppo, Gionee, Vivo and Asus.
