Apple will overtake Samsung thanks to Samsung itself. Cupertino giant to buy more OLED panels for smartphones and tablets this year

Apple will overtake Samsung in OLED smartphones and tablets sold. And it will do it thanks to Samsung itself.

The source says Apple has so far acquired 64 million OLED panels for the iPhone and iPad from Samsung Display. Samsung, in turn, acquired 56 million of these panels from itself.

It is important that the Cupertino giant purchased the specified number of panels in the first half of this year, that is, at a time when it did not release a single new smartphone. This is made possible by the huge demand for the iPhone 12 line.

Analysts believe that by the end of the year, Apple will purchase at least 170 million OLED panels for its mobile devices against 90 million a year earlier. Samsung is expected to buy 160 million panels up from 150 million last year. As a result, Apple will overtake Samsung and become the leader in the number of mobile devices sold with OLED screens in 2021.
