Apple is preparing its “Rings of Power” – unique controllers for the VR headset

Sources have obtained information about an unusual controller that can be used in conjunction with a virtual reality headset from Apple.

That Apple is at an advanced stage of development for a virtual reality headset is not news for a long time. Information about the device is actively appearing on various channels, claiming that the new product will appear next year.

Now information has appeared that it will be possible to control content in virtual reality using very strange controllers. An Apple patent entitled “Gesture Input System Including Wearable or Portable Device” describes accessories for controlling a virtual reality headset. Two rings are worn on the index and thumb and are used to track the movements of the fingers and hands. One of the images also shows the Apple Pencil.

Leaks and patents have confirmed that the Apple headset, in addition to virtual reality functions, will support mixed and augmented reality technologies, that is, it will become a universal device for a wide variety of applications.

Apple’s upcoming headset will have a total of fifteen cameras, previously reported by Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Eight of the fifteen modules will be used for augmented reality imaging, six for “innovative biometrics”, and one more developers plan to use for environmental detection.

The analyst predicts that Apple will release augmented reality glasses only in 2025, after which the company will switch to contact lenses.
