Apple gets another iPhone 12 maker

This year, Apple has delighted not only iPhone owners, but also all connoisseurs of compact smartphones by introducing the iPhone 12 mini with a 5.4-inch screen.

According to Chinese media reports, Luxshare Precision, a key assembler of Apple AirPods, plans to start production of iPhones ahead of schedule. Luxshare Precision is currently mastering the production of the new iPhone 12 mini at a Chinese factory that it acquired from Wistron.

Analysts suggest that Luxshare Precision will follow the path of other contract builders and, after joining the supply chain, Apple will first release older iPhones, and only later launch new smartphones. Only after proving its capabilities will Luxshare Precision receive orders for new models.

People familiar with the matter report that the company’s original plan was to assemble the old iPhones in small batches and then begin mass production in 2022. It is reported that the factory is currently processing about 20% of orders for the iPhone 12 mini, while the new owner intends to maintain such a volume of orders, and in the future – to increase the pace.

Sources also confirm that Apple is doing well with the release rate of the iPhone 12 mini, which shipments are growing rapidly, while the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are still in short supply.
