Electric aircraft startup Eviation Aircraft Ltd. unveiled the production version of its electric aircraft Alice, stating that it should make its first flight in the second half of this year, before entering service in 2024.

Eviation Aircraft’s plans had to be adjusted for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Alice will be able to carry nine passengers up to 1046 km, making it suitable for the US domestic market, which is currently served by a variety of light aircraft.

The production Alice model includes several changes from earlier prototypes, a change from a V-shaped tail to a T-shaped empennage and the movement of two electric propulsion systems from the wingtips to the rear of the aircraft.

The design uses “currently available battery cells,” co-founder and CEO Omer Bar-Yohay said. Suppliers include Honeywell International Inc., a manufacturer of MagniX electric motors and a division of GKN Melrose Industries Plc, which will produce the wings, empennage and wiring system.
