Yesterday, there was a big fire at Unimicron Technology’s PCB plant, causing one person to receive minor burns.

After calling the emergency services, the Taoyuan City Fire Department dispatched 67 firefighters, 19 fire trucks and three ambulances to fight the fire and carry out rescue operations, according to Taiwanese media reports.

While the cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire department, fire chief Lai Chih-Chung noted that the fire could have started in the central air conditioning room on the first floor of the building.

The company is still assessing its losses from the incident. Experts point out that the fire could disrupt the supply of components from the partner of Unimicron Technology, among which there is Apple. Unimicron Technology is one of the key suppliers of printed circuit boards for the iPhone 12. It is currently unknown how this fire will affect the supply of the iPhone 12, given that Apple has ordered 2 million more smartphones.
